Neither Vimpat nor prednisone controlled Josh's seizures. He is back to having one or two per day.
Josh is now scheduled to undergo phase 2 surgery on Christmas Eve day, Dec. 24, at NYU. If all goes as planned, he will have a "grid" placed on the right side of his brain and "strips" on the left side. He will then be observed for seizure activity. When/if they see enough activity, they will proceed to a resection of his brain, assuming that they can locate and remove the part(s) of his brain where the seizures are originating from.
He also has an appointment with a neuroimmunologist later this month. The purpose of this visit is to possibly shed some light on why the steroid Josh took after surgery was successful in controlling his seizures.
