Ain't no Mountain High Enough

To paraphrase the Motown song, there ain’t no (Swiss Alps) mountain high enough, ain’t no ocean wide enough to keep us from finding a treatment for Josh’s Epilepsy. The journey that began six years ago when Josh was first diagnosed with Epilepsy has included some 10 different medicines, two brain surgeries, numerous alternative treatments, and countless doctors. It will now take us to another continent, with our hopes high, but tempered by the fear that this, too, may not work. While we leave with a jumble of mixed feelings, we are always strengthened by the love, support, and prayers that we receive from our friends and family.

Off to Switzerland!

It’s been almost 18 months since I last posted on this blog and I won’t try to fill you in on all that has happened. Suffice to say that we are off to Switzerland to meet with Dr. Jeanmonod. It has taken all this time for him to finish his clinical trial and to see us. Our appointment is Aug. 2. The purpose of the visit is to determine if Josh is a candidate for the non-invasive brain surgery. If he is, we will come back home, get our ducks in a row, and return. Dr. Jeanmonod has already told us that Josh is a likely candidate, so the chances are good that we will be returning. There is a link to the Center where Dr. Jeanmonod practices and I suggest you click on it if you are interested in learning more about the procedure. I’m a bit rusty at blogging, so I will update this page a little bit at a time over the next few weeks.
