Josh is asleep and in the pediatric ICU. He looks okay, considering what he has been through. He has a complete gauze head wrap, an oxygen mask, and two drainage tubes on each side of his head to drain blood from the surgery. This will be a marathon, not a sprint.
Josh is my hero. He has endured more in his young life than most people endure in their lifetimes. He has done so with grace, humility, courage, and humor. Please pray for Josh to be seizure-free, in good health, and driving in a year.

Hi Josh, Rebecca, Robyn and Jerry! I just wanted to send a quick note letting you know that I am thinking of you all. My mom (and Catherine) have been keeping me posted on Josh's status and I have been sending out good vibes all day. Please send my love to him. I know I have lost touch with your family since I have gone to college, but I will never forget my time at Temple Sinai and my friendship with Rebecca (and your family).
ReplyDeleteYou are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Peri Stark
Jerry and Robin:
ReplyDeleteI am breathing easier! Please tell Josh he has to keep up his "Zero Drama" standards, no matter how much attention he gets!!!
You are all my heros!

Hi Josh,
ReplyDeleteWe just got here at 1 AM We're at lake and looking forward to you visiting us and kayaking or canoeing on our lake later this summer. I got an e-mail from your Sendro cousins and they send love and prayers. We're proud of you. You positive attitude keeps us all stronger.
Love, Aunt Eve and Uncle Bob
Hi Josh,
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that I've always admired most about you is the fact that you always have goals. Throughout your life, I've seen you always try, no matter what the challenge, and no matter if you really wanted to or not... Still you always give it your best. =))
You've a lot to be proud of honey, but mostly, be proud of the fact that your fighting back with grace and courage against something that allows you no power or control. There are not too many people I know who would do the same. Most would be defeated and give up, just accepting what cards they were dealt in life. You see a higher purpose for yourself and will ultimately have the life that you want. I think that this experience has taught you, and indeed all of us who love you, to appreciate the little things in life and to never take a good day for granted, either for yourself, or for those you love. Life isn't fair, but you always seem to land on your feet. This will be no exception.
Jerry, you said that Josh is your hero. I can completely relate and agree 1000%. But I bet that in Josh's eyes, and certainly in all of ours, you and Robyn are "super hero's". If not for your constant drive, courage, hope, devotion and love, Josh may not have ever had the knowledge, courage and determination to make this difficult journey.
Love to all of you...
Kathy, Phil, Jordan, Alec & Dylan
Sending good wishes to all of you and waiting (not so patiently) for today's update. I'm hoping they will pull the drains soon, because that always seems to make you feel better post op.
ReplyDeleteRobyn and Jerry, I think you guys are amazing. Josh gets meds. to help him through all of this, but you two are wide awake with nothing but your own fortitude - which I must say is tremendous. I know you all are in good hands and have made good choices, which should ease your mind during the waiting process. Like I said before, you all are blazing a trail that we may someday travel and although we are not physically there with you, our hearts are.
Hi Josh -
ReplyDeleteI've never met you but have heard quite a bit about you from my younger brother Kevin AKA Becca's boyfriend. I understand you are going through a difficult operation and wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts and prayers down here in Louisiana. Stay strong and hopefully I'll meet you and your family some day soon!
